Next season

Kendal Town unveil new Reserve Team:

In keeping with the Clubs ten point strategic plan that it set out earlier in the season Chairman George Gudgeon is pleased to announce that it will be introducing a Reserve Team from the start of next season.

The Team will play midweek Matches (subject to succesful application) in The Lancashire Floodlight League with the St & B Accountants Stadium as their home ground.

Lee McCullogh and Ken Curwen will manage the team supported by Dennis Rossi and Jay Rossi. They will work closely with the Club's First Team Manager and The Head of Youth Development, They will also join the Club's Management Committee and bring up to 60 young players into our programme.

Lee McCullogh signed for Carlisle United in 1992 at the age of 13. He was there for 5 years playing under Dave Wilks. He was then offered a professional contract but could not take it due to family circumstances. In 1998 he signed for Workington Reds, breaking into the first team at the age of 18. He spent a few seasons there before signing for his local side Netherhall, playing alongside his good friend Glenn Murray, where his Team won many League Titles. Later on in his career he re signed for Workington Reds. At the age of 40 he hung up his boots before accepting the position as Workington Reds Reserve Team Assistant Manager. Early on in the season he was appointed to the managers job and a short time later he appointed Ken Curwen as his assistant manager.

Ken Curwen played for Carlisle United until he was 15 years of age. Sadly his career ended abruptly when he snapped his anterior cruciate ligament, He then went on to manage in local Saturday Football. Two years ago he started managing Workington Reds Under 18's, who finished 2nd in the League and won the County Shield. This season they are top of the League and in the County Cup Final.

Also joining Lee and Ken are Dennis Rossi and Jay Rossi. Dennis is an experienced Groundsmand and Jay Rossi will play an instrumental part in the Club behind the scenes and also as a scout.

They are all looking forward to joining the team at Kendal Town Football Club and share the Chairmans vision for the future of the Club. They believe it is a massive opportunity and are committed to playing their part and having a positive impact in the future direction of the Club.

George Gudgeon wholeheartedly believes that this New Partnership will be an important development for the Club that will see it offer a clear pathway for young players in Semi Professional Football.

This new venture will also open opportunities for players of all ages in the Lakes and surrounding areas. Assembling a Reserve Team has been a long held ambition of Chairman George Gudgeon who sees the Reserves as having the opportunity to bridge the gap between Youth Football and the Senior Side.

We are putting together a strong Youth Section and we need partnerships for these players after they turn 18. We will also play lads in there who are coming back from suspension or need fitness.

The idea is to keep players together, which builds a good Club ethos this being the main purpose behind this team.
Its another part of the jigsaw and an exciting time for the Club.
