Kidsgrove Athletic were held to a 0-0 stalemate by strugglers Kendal Town, in what proved to be a frustrating afternoon for Ryan Austin’s side.

Both teams were wasteful in a scrappy affair at The Novus Stadium where Grove dropped points in the league for only the fourth time this season.

It was Kidsgrove went closest to opening the scoring in the first half, hitting the woodwork twice in quick succession. Captain Ant Malbon’s shot from outside the box clattered off the crossbar, before falling to Rumineo who’s finish beat the keeper, but not the post.

Grove passed up another great chance soon after. Rumineo’s cross found Saxon breaking into the box from the left, but his shot rolled just wide of Dixon’s near post.

Scott Harries went close shortly after the break for the visitors as he rode several challenges only to drive his shot just wide of Kurasik’s goal.

Yet another opportunity went begging for Grove 15 minutes from time. A deep cross from Alex Morris was met by Malbon, but he couldn’t provide a clinical finish as his flying header sailed just over the crossbar.

The ever threatening Harries went close again for Kendal just after the 80 minute mark, but Kurasik was able to get down smartly to deny the midfielder.

Grove rattled the woodwork for a third time with just minutes left on the clock. Reece Thompson’s long range effort cannoned off the crossbar to deny the home side a later winner.

But with both sides unable to convert, the spoils were shared in a relatively lacklustre encounter in Kidsgrove.
