Kendal Town Ladies Development Team Update.

First of all apologies for the lack of updates from Kendal Towns Ladies Development Team. It has been a chaotic summer, with a lot of change both on and off the pitch.

As you all know the Ladies team withdrew from the North West Womans Regional Division One North League. The main reason behind that was due to the lack of players, this was a decision made by the Team, and the team alone. Once the ladies had decided to with draw the club were notified of their intentions.

Since their withdrawal the Ladies have been playing in the Cumbrian Womans Summer League, and at first it was a struggle, however over the past four games the team have been playing some good football, which in turn has resulted in them winning the last three games.

Here is a round up from those three games, while there will also be a list of fixtures at the bottom of this article:

Kendal Town Ladies Development Team Round Up:

Wednesday 30 May: Kendal Town Ladies Development 2 v Penrith Rubies 1:

Kendal Towns Ladies defeated Penrith Rubies 2-1 on Netherfields Third Pitch. The team fell behind in the first half after conceding a long distance strike from one of the Penrith players. At that stage Kendal were dominant with the goal coming very much against the run of player. However in the second half Kendal equalised following a corner into the box which was headed into the net by Lisa Rowlinson. Kendal pushed for the winner and edged infront when Jess scored late on.

Wednesday 6 June: Kendal Town Ladies Development 2 v Workington Reds Diamonds Ladies 1:

Kendal faced off against bottom of the table Workington, it was a key game for the team who were keen to build on their victory against Penrith.

The story of the game saw Kendal start the game well, with chances created. The Ladies could have been 2-0 up within the first ten minutes!. Kendal opened the scoring in the first half when Lisa Rowlinson placed the ball into the net. Lisa had time and space before firing the ball past the despairing Workington keeper.

Lisa scored her second soon after with a finish from close range

In the second half Kendal were comfortable at first however as the half progressed, Workington grew into the game. Workington were then reduced to 10, after one of their players was sent off. However despite losing a player Workington got a goal back and made It a nervy finish.

Kendal battled through and held on for the victory.

Wednesday 13 June: Keswick 1 v Kendal Town Ladies Development 2

I have very little information about this game over than the fact that Kendal won their third straight game with a hardfought win against a difficult opponent. The win sees Kendal move up to fifth in the table, after having played 8 games. The team have games in hand on fourth place!
