A last gasp Martin Grundy header earned Kendal Town a point at Ossett Albion on Saturday.

Grundy, back in the Mintcakes' squad following an injury lay off, came off the bench to make it 2-2 after Ossett had overturned a first-half Danny Penswick strike.

With regular goalkeeper Will Kitchen out injured, Kendal had on-loan Carlisle player Morgan Bacon between the posts.

The 19-year-old shot stopper has a month on loan from Brunton Park as Kitchen recovers from an ankle injury.

Kendal were the livelier of the two sides for the first period of the match, although Albion created some good chances thanks to the runs of Aidan Cjippendale down the left flank.

In the 28th minute a shot from Kendal hit the Albion bar after beating Brett Souter in the home sides's goal, but he did well to stop the goal-bound shot from the resultant rebound.

With just a minute remaining of the opening 45 minutes, Kendal passed the ball in and around the box where it fell to Penswick who curled it inside the far post beyond Souter.

The game changed around in the second half with Albion playing some good attractive football. However, it was a somewhat lucky goal that got them back into the match when a corner from Chippendale curled straight into the net.

Albion continued to press forward and it was a stunning second goal from Chippendale that seemed to have won the game for them.

Another tremendous run down the left was finished with a fierce shot that curled inside the near post from a wide angle.

But Kendal grabbed a last-gasp equaliser from a corner when Grundy rose above the defenders to head the ball home.

The Mintcakes again travel to Ossett this weekend when they take on Ossett Town, who currently sit five places above them in the table in seventh position.
