Kendal Town were knocked out of the second qualifying round of The FA Cup after losing 1-0 to Hyde United.

Big Khamsuk's goal after 79 minutes proved to be enough for the hosts while Kendal were unfortunate to lose an otherwise close encounter.

Both teams offered very little going forward within the first ten minutes of the game, as defences were on top.

Hyde’s first opportunity of note came after 13 minutes when Chris Sutherland’s long distance effort from just outside the penalty area flew wide of the right hand post.

Kendal almost opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Robert Bowman pounced on a loose header by Paddy Miller. However, Bowman, who ran into the penalty area, saw his angled shot on goal go over the top of the left hand post.

Once the game opened up, further chances were created as Hyde's Tom Pratt placed the ball wide of the left hand post after getting onto the end of a through ball by Luke Porritt, while Kendal’s Mike Aspin forced Hyde shot stopper Peter Crook into action when the Kendal skipper fired a powerful effort from outside the penalty area.

Hyde’s Harry Coates also missed a good chance after chipping the ball over the bar on the stroke of half time.

The hosts made a strong start to the second half when Pratt almost capitalised on a mistake by Will Kitchen, before Paddy Miller blazed over from a free kick.

Hyde created further opportunities through Coates, Jack Stockdill and Miller, with Kendal’s Paul Dawson creating the best opportunity for David Foster’s team.

However, Hyde opened the scoring in the 79th minute as Khamsuk pounced on a loose ball down the left hand side before placing the ball over Kitchen who rushed out of his goal.

From that point, Hyde defended well and saw the game out as they progress into the next round of the competition.
