Taylor scores twice as Kendal come away with all three points

Kendal Town earned their first 3 points of the season with a comprehensive victory over Eastwood town. Lee Ashcroft made one change to the team with the injured Kenworthy being replaced by Ledbetter up front. Scott Harries made his debut on the right wing and it was his pace that cause the Eastwood defence problems all afternoon.

The opening goal came on 19 minutes when good work from Randell in midfield released Harries who cut inside and hit a well struck shot from the edge of the box, Andrews spilled the shot and Taylor was on hand to tap in from close range. Kendal continued to pressure the Eastwood team and on 28 minutes a sloppy pass by winters was cut out and smith released Nightingale who hit a well placed cross shot past Dootson.

It was on 34 minutes when Kendal took a strong hold on the game and after some good work from Williams a corner was conceded, Ledbetter’s delivery was excellent and it was Duggan who rose to head past Andrew. After some sloppy play from Eastwood Kendal punished them further when Leadbetter cut down the wing and pulled the ball back for the on rushing Williams to hit an unstoppable shot past Andrews. Eastwood were in free-fall at the point and another leadbetter corner was flicked on by Duggan and Taylor back headed into the net to make it 4-1 at half time.

The 2nd half set off in a similar vein and it was Williams who was tripped in the area by fearon, Ledbetter stepped up and hit his penalty low and hard into the bottom corner but Andrews pulled off a great save. The miss seemed to spark Eastwood into life and in was Griffiths who hit a great half volley past Dootson. Eastwood had a good 20 minute spell but nether really threatening the Kendal goal and on Marc Joseph rapped up the game on 87 min when Ledbetter’s corn was volleyed in from 6 yards out to wrap up a comprehensive 5-2 victory.
