Local MP to meet Kendal Town FC Officials to try and find a way forward for the club.

Tim will be meeting with the Chairman Haydon Munslow and others from the football club to talk about what he can do to help.

The men’s and women’s teams have enjoyed much success on the pitch in recent years, but the club is now having a difficult time with their off the pitch finances.

The club has been able to make it through the season thanks to playing staff taking a wage cut, loan deals for players, volunteers helping do additional work and much additional fundraising.

The problems stem from the club not generating an income from the much used bar and clubhouse on the site. It is occupied by a third party who gave a small donation of just £600 to the club last season, nowhere near what the club needed to balance its books.

Tim is hoping that he can bring South Lakeland District Council, the football club and others round the table to try and resolve the issue and make sure Kendal Town FC continues to thrive.

Tim said: "Kendal Town FC is the pride of the town and I will do all I can tomorrow to work with Haydon and the team and try and solve the problem. I hope that we can sit down with the council and others and thrash the problems out and make sure that next season is successful both off and on the pitch.”

Haydon Munslow added: “Our aim is to see a modern well equipped clubhouse at our stadium generating a significant income for the football club. We have reached a stalemate now due to a whole series of legal complexities. Hopefully with Tim Farron’s input we can move on towards a resolution.”
