Kendal Town finish season on a high after goals from Gary McEvatt, Alex Taylor and Danny Williams all delighted Town fans on a sunny day in Stocksbridge.

Kendal started the game slowly after going 1-0 down after only 5 minutes when an early Stocksbridge free kick was headed into the path of Stocksbridge's Haigh by McEvatt and put it past Newton.

Newton had to be alert to keep out Jack Muldoon's effort when he cut inside and took a shot at Newton’s near post.

Efforts from Kevin Leadbetter and Marc Joseph failed to trouble the home keeper as Rory Winters and Alex Taylor put dangerous balls into the area.

Kendal got back into the game on 29 minutes when Ashley Dunn played a ball over the top of the Stocksbridge defence into the path of the on running Gary McEvatt who confidently puts the ball over the top of the keeper and into the net.

Nothing really happened for a while, until the ball was given away by Kevin Leadbetter inside the Kendal half, only for Stocksbridge's Matt Telling to put wide of target.

Moments later a ball was played across the area by Alex Taylor to Kevin Leadbetter who pulls the ball back across goal to Wisdom and the shot was blocked by the Stocksbridge keeper for it to fall into the path of Alex Taylor who comfortably put it into the net for 1-2.

The half wasn’t over yet as Ashley Dunn cleared an effort off the line and then put a ball over the top to Alex Taylor who was judged to be in an offside position.

HT 1-2

Rory Winters was replaced by Jordan Tucker not long after the start of the second half with a suspected hamstring problem.

Gary McEvatt was replaced by Carl Osman on 69 minutes.

Just moments later Danny Williams was played down the left hand side he then put the ball into the area for it to curl into the net for 1-3.

There was a moment just 3 minutes later when a Muldoon effort was pushed onto the post by Newton and it rolled along the line and bounced of the other post to then be cleared by debutant Paul Alexander.

Taylor was then replaced by Jackson on 73 minutes.

Stocksbridge started to pile on the pressure in the closing stages but nothing came of it as Kendal defended well.
