After drawing away at Abbeytown last time out, Kendal Town Ladies are back with a bang with a 14-0 victory away at Keswick Ladies..

[Match Report by David Shankley]

The sun shined on Kendal Town Ladies again on Sunday, in more ways than one.  On a beautiful autumnal day at Fitz Park, overlooked by the mighty Skiddaw, the black & whites were back to winning ways, on their travels, with a very convincing, powerful performance for a 14 - 0 away victory.

Striker Nessa Temple was impressive throughout the first half and opened the scoring for town with a well directed header after 12 minutes. The move started with a superb crossfield ball from Jen Carradus to winger Michelle Raven, who provided the cross for Nessa to finish. Nessa added her second 6 minutes later & completed her hat trick early in the second half, before taking a well earned rest!  Nessa has now scored in all six league games this season.

Leading goalscorer, Joanne Thompson made it 3 -0 to the visitors just before the half hour & defender Vicky Jones weighed in with a shot from distance to make the score at the break 0 – 4.

Town started the second half with a 3:4:3 formation, which paid off, as although Keswick had tried to contain Kendal during the first period and early into the second half, three goals in as many minutes put the result beyond doubt.  Nessa, Vicky Jones (playing more forward) with a close range header & Nicola Martindale all on target.

Substitute Faye Armstrong played an exquisite one-two with Jo Thompson for her goal on 68 mins and Jo notched her second a minute later.

Player’s player of the match Michelle Raven was excellent down the right throughout and managed to get on the score sheet with a brace on 74 & 75 minutes!

The finale.. Captain Lauren Downham fired in from distance with ten minutes remaining, before Jo Thompson completed her hat trick & added her fourth & town’s fourteenth in the last minute!

Overall, Kendal were totally in control throughout and played some very stylish football on a very good playing surface against a very spirited Keswick side, who despite the score, competed until the end.

Three more points and still unbeaten in the Cumbria Women’s League.
