Kendal Town were this evening unceremoniously dumped out of the FA Trophy after a 6-0 mauling at the hands of Stourbridge.
Kendal Town were unceremoniously dumped out of the FA Trophy at the second qualifying round stage by Stourbridge 6-0 at the CosySeal Stadium, tonight, Tuesday.
Stourbridge outplayed Town in all areas and forged a 2-0 lead at the break thanks to goals from Sean Evans and Ryan Rowe within five minutes of the break.
Town had looked set to go in level at half-time when Evans picked up the ball at the back post unmarked and slotted home beyond Tom Newton.
And on the stroke of half-time Rowe latched on to a back header to the keeper and poked home.
It got worse for Town soon after the restart when Nathan Bennett fired through a crowded six yard box from a corner on 54 minutes and it was 4-0 six minutes later when a free kick from midway inside the Town half sailed past everyone.
Newton was wrongfooted and a flap at the ball was unable to prevent it trickling into the net.
Town were never really in the match from that point on and as they pushed forward it opened up at the back, allowing Stourbridge to run in a further two goals.
On 68 minutes Drew Canavan ran through the middle of the pitch, dribbling through three tackles and unleashed a shot from 20 yards beyond Newton for number five.
And with Canavan injured and no substitute available, ten-men Stourbridge added a sixth when Paul McCone headed hom a corner at the near post.
Lee Ashcroft threw Mark Jackson, Gary McEvatt and Rory Winters onto the field to restore pride but a bad night at the office saw Kieran Walmsley fire two speculative shots over the top and Jackson could only direct a fizzing cross over the bar from two yards out.
