Kendal Town came back from a goal down to earn there place in the hat for Monday's third round qualifying draw.

Manager Lee Ashcroft opted to start with the same side that were unlucky to draw against Marine in midweek and early-on the visitors were struggling to get into their passing game in the soaring temperatures, on what appeared to be a bobbly and hard playing surface.

Mark Jackson had the first real attempt on goal in the 29th minute with an instinctive shot that was well saved by Zohlan in the Wakefield goal.

Wakefield forward Tom Denton was keeping the Kendal defence busy and when a Zohlan goal-kick was punted forward, Wakefield were able to hit a cross-field ball into the box and Tom Denton scored from 6-yards out.

In the first half both teams were struggling to carve out clear-cut chances in increasingly blustery conditions.

After coming out for the 2nd half a goal down, Kendal got off to to best possible start as Ashley Dunn got onto the end of Kevin Leadbetter's ball to volley past Zohlan for parity, with only 19 seconds of the second-half gone.

The goal settled the visitors down and Kendal began to dominate possession and on 52 minutes they were to take the lead. Carlisle United loanee Steve Swinglehurst powered a header home from a corner to the delight of the visiting supporters.

Kendal's third goal was to come on 60 minutes when the tireless Mark Jackson diverted a shot from Leadbetter into the bottom corner.

Kendal put the tie beyond doubt when Gary McEvatt's first touch after coming on as a late substitute was to poke Marc Joseph's powerful header into the goal to wrap up the tie for Kendal.
