Lee Ashcroft announces four new signings

Wednesday 13th July 2011

Lee Ashcroft has further strengthened his squad with the signings of defender Marc Joseph, winger Mark Peers and forwards Gary McEvatt and Andy Bell.

Kendal's First Team Manager Lee Ashcroft commented:

"I felt it was massively important to add some experience to our young and talented squad. I have been very impressed with the fitness levels, attitude and commitment shown by each of these lads in both the training sessions and the matches we have played so far. Each of these players are vastly experienced and hopefully that is something which will benefit us as the Season progresses."

Marc Joseph comes to Kendal Town with a strong pedigree, having played for over 10 years in the football league with Cambridge United, Peterborough United, Hull City and Blackpool. Marc joins us from Conference North side Altrincham. Interestingly Marc went to school with former England Striker Emile Heskey. He is also known for 'hitting the bar' on Soccer AM's Crossbar Challenge whilst playing for Blackpool!

Mark Peers, like Town favourite Alex Taylor, began his playing career at Liverpool's academy set-up before a brief spell at Scottish side Raith Rovers. He then went on to play over 100 times for Witton Albion, before successful tenures at Fleetwood Town and Halifax Town. Mark spent much of last Season at rivals Northwich Victoria.

Gary McEvatt joined Kendal towards the end of last Season from Burscough, where he was the club's Top Scorer. Gary now makes his move a permanent one.

Andy Bell joins from Evo-Stik North side AFC Fylde where he spent all of last Season. Fans may remember Andy spent a brief time with Kendal Town in the 2009/2010 Season on loan from Fleetwood Town, where he is still held in high regard. Joining Fleetwood from Hednesford Town in 2006, Bell became Fleetwood's Top Scorer when they were crowned Premier Division Champions in the 2007-08 Season.
