Danny Rowe Signs for Fleetwood Town

Evo-Stik Premier League club Kendal Town have sold striker Danny Rowe to Blue Square Bet Premier League Fleetwood Town.

The former Manchester United school boy player signed for the Highbury club who play two leagues above Kendal after he passed a medical on Thursday afternoon. Rowe, 21, has proved his marksman credentials with a high goal-to-appearance ratio in 14 Evo-Stick Premier games this season.

Danny Rowe goes to Fleetwood with a good grounding having spent his boy and teenager football with Preston North End in addition to Old Trafford.

Danny Rowe commented:

“I’m glad to join Fleetwood Town and I’m looking forward to proving myself at this level. I’ll also contribute with plenty of goals having already put away nine for Kendal in the Evo-Stick Premier. I know Fleetwood are a good club who are going places. The lads are a good bunch and I can’t wait to wear a red and white shirt.”

Kendal Town Manager, Lee Ashcroft:

"Although we are all sad to see Danny leave, I will not stand in the way of him or any players if they are offered the opportunity to play at a higher level on a full-time basis.

Danny has earned this opportunity and I know he'll go on to fulfill his potential, all being well, inthe Football League. On behalf of the management and the other players at Kendal Town, I would like to wish hi the very best."

Fleetwood Town Manager, Micky Mellon, was keen to stress Rowe may not be an immediate answer in adding to Town’s goal tally this term:

“It’s important we keep improving the squad and adding players with good potential. Danny, at the minute, may not be ready to step straight into first team football.

With full-time training at the intensity we practice, and the coaching which is available, we feel he will be moulded into a good footballer. Danny is a lad who started his career at the high end of football and regained his appetite for the game at Kendal.

We’ve watched him for quite a few games now and we feel there is an opportunity for him to grow and develop into a good player under our guidance.”

Kendal Town Chairman, Haydon Munslow, commented:

"I am sorry to see Danny Rowe move on and he will be a great loss to the squad. I do not want to stand in the way though of Danny’s personal progress.

In particular I want to pay tribute to Lee Ashcroft our Manager who spotted Danny’s exceptional talent, brought him to Kendal and coached him to achieve the level of performances that has so impressed Fleetwood Town."

Midfielder Nathan Pond will move to Kendal for a short loan period as part of the sale deal.
